Call To Prayer
Father, God, thank you for this day that you have made. Thank you for life, health, and strength. Thank you for love, grace, and mercy. Thank you for being our provider and chief advisor. Thank you for watching over us while we slept. You never sleep. Thank you for the clothes on our backs and the shoes on our feet. Thank you for the things we took for granted. Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice on Calvary. We love and honor you for being our atonement and showing us the ultimate love of the Father. Thank you, Abba, that you did not leave Him in the grave, but raised Christ on the third day according to the Scriptures. And now we can live again with you in eternity. Thank you Holy Spirit for being our teacher and our comforter. Thank you for speaking to us in the wind and the trees. You walk with us in the garden and by the streams of living water.
Open our eyes this morning to see you moving in everything into which you breathe your Spirit. Anoint us this day to show love to your people. Shower your love upon us that we may know the intimate care that you have for us. Bind the works of the enemy that seeks to sift and devour us. Close his mouth. Cancel his plans. Holy Spirit, speak on our behalf and make intercession for us with the Father. Search our hearts. If you find anything that should not be, take it out and fill that void with your own Spirit. Govern our thoughts. Give us this day our daily bread.
Help us to remember all of your benefits and name your blessings one by one, that we forget not all of your benefits. We repent of our sins and turn away from the things of the flesh to honor and lift you up in our hearts. Forgive us oh Great God. We come to your throne of grace as humbly as we know how. Fix our eyes on you. Help us to exercise our measure of faith to walk in your service. Intervene in our lives. Go before us to the people and places that we will meet today. Let your light shine through us. Let your love flow through us. Let your grace abound. Let your peace prevail. Let your mercy stand in the midst of judgment and set captives free right now! Deliver us from every work of darkness and lead us to your light.

Joseph’s Favor
Joseph was favored by his father above all of his brethren. Joseph’s brothers were jealous and envious of Joseph because of the preferential treatment that Joseph received and the gift that their father gave to Joseph – a coat of many colors. Joseph also had favor with God. God protected Joseph from being slain. God also made the work of Joseph’s hands to prosper and let others know that God was with him. Joseph was one of God’s anointed vessels. This was Josephs key prosperity despite his haters.
21 He allowed no man to oppress or exploit them, And, He reproved and punished kings for their sakes, saying, 22 “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” I Chronicles 16:21-22 AMP
Joseph had favor with those who had rule over him, including Pharaoh. Joseph recognized that God had a plan for his life. When you understand your purpose, you can stand even when the world tries to push you down; and if you fall down, you get up.
Perspective
Perspective makes a big difference in how you see the world, your life events, and the experiences of others. When you have the right perspective, another person’s forgotten remnant can be your coat of many colors. Ask your neighbor, “Do you see what I see?” With the right perspective, you can see a setback as a setup for a comeback (Willie Jolley).
Joseph was going to his brethren to check on their welfare at the request of his father. Joseph’s brothers saw that event as an opportunity to slay Joseph whom they hated because Joseph’s favor. They understood and took note that Joseph was more beloved of their father, Israel, being that Joseph was Israel’s son born of his old age. Joseph was on an errand of love, Joseph’s brothers thought evil against him. There were two perspectives on the same situation. Ask your neighbor, “Are you plotting against what you should be planting?” The gift in the plight of Joseph with the scorn of his siblings was that all things worked together for Joseph’s good, who loved and served a living God.
28 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. Romans 8:28 AMP
Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers in order to get rid of him. But God made that situation work for Joseph’s good, and ultimately for the good of Joseph’s entire family and nation. Joseph’s being sold into slavery brought him before great men. Then, God allowed Joseph’s gifts to make room for him. Spiritual gifts are designed to be delivered – they are for the building of the body of faith. Thus, an endowment of these gifts will eventually bring the faithfully gift-wielding servant into a place of administration of the gifts. The gifted must however be open-minded because there is more than one way to deliver the gifts of God. Often, the placement of the servant is nontraditional, because God is a creative thinker. He knows to get a Word through.
Joseph was a dreamer who had the gift of interpreting dreams by the Spirit of God. Joseph knew how to get God’s attention. God incubated Joseph in various situations until the timing was right for Joseph’s gift to be revealed. Sometimes when a servant (of God) is destined to do might works by God’s Spirit in the kingdom, he or she will be under attack by the enemy who fears the destruction of his temporary kingdom in the earth. God knows how to set his servants aside for maturation and training while He prepares the proper situation for the servant to be presented. This is akin to a rite of passage. God will prepare a willing servant by many tests and then send that trained spiritual giant into a chaotic situation to proclaim the arrival of the Deliver and be a vessel of deliverance. When God steps into a troubled water, he did not come to take comfort; He came to take over – the enemy’s army is going down.
Joseph later interprets a dream of Pharaoh and his given the position of second in the kingdom. In the time of a great famine, Joseph had the keys to the only pantry that had food in it. Joseph had been forgotten by those whom he helped with this gift whilst he was in prison. Joseph remembered those who spitefully used him and gave food to his brethren when they hungered. God promises the repay the cheerful giver who regards the poor and ministers to their need. The key fact is that Joseph had a giving heart before he became second in the kingdom. It is important to practice spiritual principles in spite of what great wealth or average state you may stand in. You are not your bank account. You are not the clothes that you wear. God is not impressed with a fast car. Charity with humility and grace is impressive to God.
Joseph had been hated by his brothers. They were the hater huddle – gossiping and plotting out of jealousy. Still, Joseph showed love to his brothers. Despite Joseph’s tender heart, he had to endure slavery for a season though he was born free and remained a goodly man who did not lightly offend others – he even ran away from the opportunity to live in sin, rejecting the advances of his master’s wife – for which he was unjustly imprisoned.
Joseph’s experience is a metaphor for the bondage of Christ, who was sold for twenty pieces of silver. Neither Joseph nor Christ avenged their innocence against unjust imprisonment. Jesus bore the cross of a thief, though He had stolen nothing. Joseph’s brother’s conspired against him. Judas conspired against Christ.
Like the youth trained and prepared for transition into manhood or womanhood, Joseph’s rite of passage was sore and long-lasting. However, he had to be broken in order that he would understand the healing power of His God. When Joseph was ready, God promoted him and gave him double honor for all of his abasement prior to becoming a ruler second only to the Pharaoh. Joseph was set in a princely robe with the jewels of the house of rulership. He held the key to provision for the brothers who had sold him and pretended him dead.
Jesus had to bear the cross in order that He might go before you as a sacrificial lamb and come out victorious in resurrection that you might receive life eternal and the Comforter whom you would otherwise not have been able to receive.
Behold, this dreamer cometh.
