No Weapon
17 But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord. Song of The Day: No Weapon by Fred Hammond
In today’s reading, the man Haman was promoted to an high prince in the kingdom of King Ahasuerus (Xerxes) (Esther 3:1). He let his newfound fame go to his head. When Mordecai refused to bow before Haman, the conceit of Haman was inflamed (Esther 3:5) and he sought to kill Mordecai. Haman’s wrath was also turned to Mordecai’s people. Haman was called the Jews’ enemy (Esther 3:10).
We know that the enemy of God is a conspirator. He not only roams the earth seeking whom he may devour; he also recruits the willing to lay a stumbling block and a stone of offense before you. Yet, when God intervenes in your circumstance, there is no ally nor source that can conquer you.
We read in Romans 12:3 that a person ought not to think more highly of himself (or herself) than he (or she) is.
II Corinthians 10:12-18
12For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. 14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ: 15 Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly, 16To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand. 17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. 18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
When Haman led a conspiracy against the Jews, he did so out of selfish pride. Unbeknownst to Haman, he plotted against whom God had blessed. Ultimately, not even a child of the Jews fell at Haman’s hand; and Haman suffered the curse that he intended for God’s people.
The promises of God are real in the lives of His servants. One of God’s promises is that no weapon formed against his servants shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Weapons can be of different forms. The weapon of Haman was initially just words. He spoke against the people of Mordecai, though he did not truly know who they were. Hamans’ words were full of hate, and they instigated war. Soon, the weapons of Haman were quickly multiplied as he recruited people from Xerxes’ kingdom to war against the Jews.
Haman knew nothing of the divine weapons that belong only the people of God, who do His will by faith. Paul taught it best. Though Paul was full of the Spirit of God, he spoke humbly with understanding.
II Corinthians 10:3-6
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds😉 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
No weapon formed against God’s servants will prosper (Isaiah 54:17); but the weapons of God shall not fail.
